VIN markers in the production flow

Modern production lines require flexible, automated and networked solutions. The Trotec VIN Marker System meets these requirements precisely with in line VIN marking: It is fast, precise and safe, and can be fully integrated.
The VIN Marker uses a 200 W fibre laser to create markings with a depth of 0.3 to 0.5 mm on steel and aluminium. Engraving takes less than 15 seconds per vehicle component.
Thanks to its Profinet and OPC UA interfaces, the system can be integrated directly into MES and ERP architectures. The SafetyCone protects employees from laser radiation and allows operation in open production environments.

OEMs are under pressure to digitise their production processes while also meeting legal requirements, such as ISO 3779. In line laser VIN marking saves time, reduces sources of error, and enables direct traceability. According to a PwC study, over 60% of European OEMs already use automated VIN systems connected to MES.
An example of this is a German OEM, which integrated the Trotec VIN Marker into its final assembly line. Since then, the vehicle identification number has been automatically engraved on the frame, with the data transferred directly to the SAP system. The result is less rework and complete traceability, whilst saving time and enhancing quality.
