New VersaStudio BY2 20 brings production ready direct to film printing to compact apparel workflows

Roland DG has launched the VersaStudio BY2‑20, a compact direct to film (DTF) printer designed to deliver consistent, high quality apparel production with confidence. Built for real world use, the BY2-20 combines professional print performance with an integrated, production ready workflow that simplifies operations and enables users to produce reliable results, day after day.

As the DTF market continues to expand with many solutions prioritising low upfront costs over long term reliability, the BY2-20 is positioned as a professional alternative designed for dependable output and predictable performance. By bringing together advanced print technology, integrated software, and a fully supported ecosystem, it removes much of the complexity associated with DTF printing and helps businesses focus on producing and growing with confidence.

Building on the company’s long standing expertise in colour science and print technology, the BY2‑20 is a CMYK plus white DTF printer designed to deliver sharp detail, vivid colour, and repeatable results. It supports a wide range of apparel applications, from t‑shirts and sportswear to workwear, décor, and accessories.

Refined ink flow, internal temperature control and large capacity white ink cartridges support predictable performance and stable continuous printing. Automatic white underbase generation helps simplify production, even in demanding environments where consistency is critical.

Designed as an integrated solution, removing the complexity traditionally associated with DTF printing, the BY2‑20 brings together hardware, inks, software, media, and support as part of the Roland DG ecosystem. First, Connect Designer provides design tools to produce artwork, VersaWorks 7 then prepares designs for print, before Roland DG Connect facilitates monitoring and maintenance. Ultimately, this workflow allows users to focus on producing and selling finished products, rather than managing technology.
