As the demand for durable, weather resistant materials is increasing, Trotec is offering a robust portfolio of UV resistant laser materials engineered specifically for outdoor applications. Designed for long term performance under environmental stress, these materials maintain visual integrity, mechanical strength, and high contrast even after extended sun exposure. UV resistance plays a critical role in preventing discolouration, fading, and surface degradation caused by ultraviolet (UV) radiation, especially in applications such as signage, labels, and architectural engravings, where longevity and clarity are essential.

Trotec laser materials are formulated to meet the challenges of exterior environments through enhanced UV protection, achieved by applying the following strategies:

  • UV stabilisers and absorbers are integrated into material compositions.

  • Co-extruded layers and topcoats offer surface level UV resistance.

  • Proven pigment systems are selected based on accelerated weathering tests.

All the company’s UV resistant products undergo rigorous accelerated weather testing in accordance with ISO 4892 standards. Simulating up to 1200 hours of sunlight exposure, these materials demonstrate colour fastness and stability for up to two years in outdoor environments.

Materials suitable for exterior environments are clearly marked with the ‘Outdoor Use’ icon in the company’s webshop, offering customers an easy way to identify high durability laser cutting materials. While developed for external environments, these materials are equally beneficial for indoor applications requiring long term visual and structural stability.

Customers seeking UV resistant laser materials will find a wide selection of high quality products in the webshop, each engineered for long term performance in challenging outdoor environments. For materials that are typically not UV stable, Trotec offers robust alternatives such as TroLase Metallic Plus, which delivers a metallic appearance combined with reliable weather durability. Another example is TroLase Wood, which combines the warm aesthetic of natural wood with enhanced UV stability, offering a weather resistant substitute that avoids moisture absorption and warping. The TroGlass acrylic range provides up to 10 years of weather resistance.

While most Trotec material colours are UV stable, customers are encouraged to review product specifications carefully – for instance, all anodised aluminium variants are UV resistant except matte green.

When creating for outdoor use, selecting the right materials is key. Whether for safety signage, outdoor branding, or durable labelling solutions, the company’s UV resistant laser materials empower creators to produce long lasting results without compromise. As the summer season progresses, users are advised to select materials marked for UV resistance in the webshop. These materials provide proven performance in terms of longevity, contrast retention, and mechanical integrity – making them a reliable choice for exterior environments.
