Michael Ryan, head of FESPA Global Print Expo, explains.
From 6 to 9 May 2025, at the Messe Berlin, Germany, FESPA Global Print Expo 2025 will provide a connection point for speciality printers and sign makers to exchange ideas and experiences with fellow visionaries, explore a range of new technologies and solutions, and network with a host of forward thinking business professionals.
Co-located events European Sign Expo and Personalisation Experience will run alongside the main exhibition, bringing together, under one roof, a wealth of innovations from multiple printing sectors.
Tell us more about European Sign Expo and the Personalisation Experience.
Dedicated solely to the signage and visual communication industries, the event will showcase cutting edge innovations for markets including channel lettering, digital signage, dimensional signage, engraving and etching, LED and sign solutions.
Personalisation Experience will enable visitors to explore the value of integrating customisation into their business offering and give them a rounded perspective on its capability to drive commercial growth.
This year’s strapline is ‘Where Visionaries Meet’.
This year’s strapline diverts the focus of the show to our incredible FESPA community, from our visitors and exhibitors, to our association heads and awards winners. ‘Where Visionaries Meet’ positions visitors as futuristic and forward thinking members of the print and signage communities, and FESPA, as the ideal connection point.
For our visitors, this means that they will gain a valuable insight into what the future holds for the industry. Complete automation of the latest technologies? Materials that are completely recyclable? As delegates exchange their thoughts with leading brands and suppliers, industry experts and specialists, FESPA will once again support the development of the forward facing vision of the speciality print industry.
Can we expect any additional features?
I am delighted to share that World Wrap Masters and the FESPA Awards will return in 2025. Throughout days one and two of the event, regional World Wrap Masters champions will battle it out in a series of timed rounds with the goal of winning a place in the World Wrap Masters 2025 final, held on days three and four. Delegates can also attend a series of live demonstrations and training workshops hosted by the Wrap Institute.
Visitors will also be able to see entries from across the globe to the FESPA Awards 2025. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Wednesday 7 May.
Are there any trends to look out for?
We always expect key industry trends to surface throughout the events. We are currently seeing more print businesses than ever before shift their focus towards increased sustainability, personalisation and digitisation. Echoing our recent event editions, these trends are likely to be pertinent throughout our 2025 events.
Due to the high demand for environmentally conscious materials and production, print companies are placing sustainability at the top of their agendas. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about how they can reduce their environmental impact with the latest technologies, solutions, materials and more.
There is now immense pressure on brands to provide consumers with an individualised experience. In turn, this has increased the commercial value of personalisation. Technologies are continuously evolving, and, as a result, printers are able to capitalise on a wealth of new opportunities.
In a shift towards digital technologies, whether it is for print, signage or personalisation, more and more businesses are investing in digitised equipment.
What aspects of the event excite you the most?
Year on year, I am given the opportunity to network with a host of like minded and experienced individuals, where I get to not only exchange existing knowledge and experiences, but gain a fresh perspective on the industry, trends and more. Regardless of whether they are new or existing faces, our visitors, exhibitors, associations, it is incredibly rewarding meeting with people who are as passionate about print as I am, at our events. The FESPA community really is front of mind in everything we do.
In addition, it is always exciting when we introduce a new element to the show. Be it a new event, feature or exhibitor, in an ever evolving industry like ours, we should always be willing to embrace change. Over recent years, we have seen trends and areas of opportunities significantly shift. As a result, FESPA has diverted its focus towards these. I cannot wait to see these surface both at, and beyond, the 2025 events.
